SHADOWING
Miami-Dade Medical Examiner's Office
I shadow a day or two in the morgue where I collect fluid samples such as blood to be used for later toxicology tests; weigh and record weights of the organs for later reference when determining the cause of death; assist the Medical Examiners on call with whatever they request such as labelling tubes and cassettes, handing instruments, keeping the work area clean, cleaning the body before the external exam, opening the skull, etc. to hasten the autopsy process
Dr. Marracini, Miami, FL
I shadow Dr. Marracini about twice a semester. He was Chief Medical Examiner in Palm Beach County, now he is a family doctor. We have regular tutorials in his hospital where we discuss aspects of forensic pathology and he has recommended various books that I should start reading.

OTHER VOLUNTEERING ACTIVITIES
Food for Faith
In January 2019, I saw the need for a place where people could relax for a while during finals and midterms. I coupled that with my love of baking and founded an outreach project called Food for Faith. I asked for sponsorship by my college ministry group Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM) to bake goods and hand them out in front of the Green Library during midterms and finals weeks. I am in charge of planning venues and times to bake, distribute and table. I also fund raise and handle the donations and am in charge of labor allocation. I work with a team of 10+ people. We table during Food for Faith because we like to give people the opportunity to talk about their stresses, and to give them stress managing tools like coloring pages.
Food Pantry
The food pantry at my campus offers free food to the school's affiliated regardless of need. While volunteering in the pantry, I log use of the pantry, arrange and categorize food items, and I ask individuals to donate food and time to pantry.
Peer Advisor
I spent roughly an hour a week for two semesters being a peer advisor to freshmen international students. I helped them get acclimated to the U.S. system and I provided advice ranging from social to academic advice. I had one pre-med student that was specially assigned to me.
